Systematic use of this Sewage Record Book supports the Master, Chief Engineer, and responsible officers in:
- Demonstrating compliance with MARPOL Annex IV discharge conditions during port state control inspections, flag state surveys, and MARPOL Annex IV certification surveys.
- Providing a complete and traceable record of every sewage-related operation (including treated and untreated discharge, graywater discharge, internal transfers, shore disposal, and equipment maintenance or failure).
- Supporting the company's SMS environmental management procedures by maintaining a controlled record of sewage handling as part of the ship's pollution-prevention arrangements.
